Islanders Land High Scoring Forward Max Lurie2012-08-13
Lurie (Left) a 5 foot 10 inch 165 pound 18 year old forward joins the Islanders after a successful run for his high school team in Rocky River, Ohio.
The Cape Cod Islanders just got a huge offensive shot in the arm with the signing of Max Lurie.
During His High School career Rocky River, Ohio, Max Lurie smashed school records for assists in a year where he had 119 helpers and also set a new school record with 191 career assists. Max also set a new benchmark for career points with 156, as the former mark was 91. His 232 total career points is now the standard for the school. As if that wasn't enough, Max went on to crush the all time state assist record with 119 in his senior season eclpising the previous total of 91 and set new a new total points record with 156 besting the old total of 132.
"Max is a very talented and humble young man. It took a lot of prompting to even get him to talk about his prolific high school career. He understands that, although he has had great success in the past, that's where it is, in the past and he is looking forward to coming here and competing every day to get better and become the best hockey player he can be." Coach Hodge said
Lurie comes from a great program in Rocky River and was a teammate of Islander defenseman, Caleb Gannelli with Team Ohio.
The Islanders season begins on September 7 when they will play in a league showcase up in Salem, New Hamsire. The full 2011-12 schedule will be on line within the next few weeks.
